JESUS
Read Ruefle through page 75, and lets keep in mind negative
capability, as Keats wrote: when a man is capable of being
in uncertainties, mysteries, doubts, without any irritable
reaching after fact and reason . . .
let these poems do their work on you, and report to us on Wednesday
how it feels . . . what new "vistas" open up, how did that intimacy we
talked about last night deepen. I just read (again) "Sawdust" and
"Broken Spoke" and I'm slightly stunned . . . and "Open Letter to
My Ancestors"! Wow . . .
This Ashley Capps poem reminds me of Mr. Burkett's Berryman / Jesus poem.
