POST ON JANUARY 8
Since Herb Scott's book is on standby just concentrate on
choosing a poem to bring next week (Jan 15) and in acquiring
the texts. Make sure to bring copies of the poem for everybody.
I will amend our reading schedule (that's the point of this blog--
to change things when stuff happens). Read the first 34 pages of
Cynthia Cruz's The Glimmering Room by Jan. 15.
Write 300 words on the literary magazine I've handed out by
January 22. Write anything. What is your basic impression, from
the cover art to the content? Maybe point out what you
particularly like (and just say why--it doesn't necessarily matter
why but tell us (or me) anyway). Just stick your name on a page
and single-space the text. Nothing formal. But it's important that
you do it.
The two books, Charmi Keranen's The Afterlife is a Dry County
and Shade, 2004 cost fifteen dollars together, so bring cash or
a check to class next time OR buy them on Amazon (but do it
now). Here is a link to Charmi's book. And here is a link to Shade.
There are a few used copies of Shade, though after the third copy
down or so the price is the same of more than what I'm offering,
which is $8. A new copy of Shade is over $20. So, that's the deal.
Purchase all of the books now, though, (all 8) because we will be
dipping in and out of them all. As for the two you need to
purchase without using the bookstore, I reiterate:
Charmi's book: $7
Shade 2004: $8
Both books $15
Check or cash next week. Or use Amazon today.
